Great vision from brother Crow
Told in a dream June 2, 2005
That night the dream was clear as the June night it came to me in, and sleep came easy.
The dream started as building plans with all the work of building a sweat lodge. There was the raking and clearing of the ground, digging of trenches and of a fire pit. In this part of the dream I was a watcher learning how to build this building. It was describe in great detail. I didnt realize what they were building until much later in the dream. The sweat lodge was made from shrub trees that were around the area, braced together with cloth bands and used as the walls and a ceiling of the lodge. The east and west walls were eight feet long and the north and south were six feet long with a low flat ceiling of seven feet tall. All the way around the bottom of the lodge was a two-foot opening with a foot trench leaving a path for the door. The door was a piece of heave spun black cloth. The first part of this dream was in the morning hours but in the dream it seem like a few days could have gone by as the building took form and finished. I remember as the watcher; the sun, it shone brightly and hot to the right of the building yet I felt nothing of heat from it. The builders in this first part were faceless nothing seem to be important about them.
As the dream continued one part faded in to another. The day was darker then the first part and this second part was short. There I was a watcher again watching people start a bon-fire. The bon-fire was to the left and maybe fifteen feet away from the lodge, it was build with many rocks and stones around and in the fire with wood burning brightly on top. There were people unimportant as in the first scene moving hot rocks from the fire and placing them in the trench surrounding the lodge. And then they would put more rocks and wood into the fire. In the trench the people was pouring water on to the hot rocks and creating steam, and this is where I got the sweat lodge. After the rocks cooled they would remove them back into the fire and replace them with new hot rocks. This seemed like a never-ending process in a short part of the dream.
The third part was even darker yet I could see clearly in the light of a full face of the moon. There were lots of people not only worker but also other watches. The watchers were surrounding the lodge were mostly Indians with their feathers on but there were others, women and men in the group of no pacific race. They were all sing and chanting some were playing drums, some were dancing. But it was not a happy time for there was sorrow in their eyes as they watched the darken doorway of the lodge. The worker were still busy with keeping the rocks hot or cooling them off in the trenches. And I could see women running in and out with buckets and coming back with buckets full of water.
Next in yet another scene I became one of the women carrying and hurrying with buckets. Around the lodge there was a forest in the forest there was a river; that was were they would fill their buckets. Rushing back to the lodge the curiosity overwhelmed as in what was in side the lodge and what was happening. The curiosity only made me rush faster with my bucket back to the lodge. The chanters chanted and the drummer beat took the beat of my own heart. The lodge loomed closer and then I enter. In the middle of the lodge there was a bed with very sick person laying on it. Blankets cover the person and cool rages cover the face. Who ever it was it seem like they seem very sick and close to death.
The next thing I know it was I lying in that bed. And the fifth scene began. I felt very sick and was in horrible pain. The cool rag upon my head was cool but the rest of me was burning up. I could barely see me eyes were as if they were swollen shut. There were people rushing around talking in hurried voices no words I could make out. Alls I wanted to do was to shut my eyes and never open them again. Slowly my eyes shut, pain and heat the last things I remembered and I fell in to unconscious.
The chanter continued to chat. The drummers continued to play the music was strong inside my eardrum it was easily forgot this was all a dream. Yet as dreams come and dreams go this one was not yet finished.
The next theme I was in the crowd watching in knowing what was going on hoping that not all was lost. The air was dark from the smoke of the fire and of the clouds the quickly picking up wind was blowing in. the wing was freezing now as the time got later. Every one was still running around, the worker with their stones, and the women with their buckets. The next thing I knew and there was no stopping the wind. The fire ragging with all its furry caught the wind and licked the lodge. The lodge was on fire. Blazing wild. Every one started screaming the men and women was throwing water on to the flames and yet nothing seems to beat them down. The women in side were running out coughing and then running back in. the flames got worst the place was a blazed. The roof was about to cave in. There was no saving the one who lay sick and unconscious and unable to save her self. The women were crying and on there knees asking why. The men stood salient not knowing how to comfort the women, not knowing how to comfort them selves. It was a tragic a shocking tragic how could this happen, why?
As the sixth scene continued into the seventh scene I was asking my self what could happen why am I being shown this tragic? The crowd now silent starred at the dieing flames of the lodge not wanting to move to find the body of the sick one. The smoke dark and thick was coming densely from the doorway. Then with out warning, the smoke turned into a flock of crows. There were crows flying everywhere, flying from the darken door as a cloud of smoke. Into the sky they flue, into the crowd the flue; and then they were gone looking back at the lodge it stood there unburned never scorched under the full face of the moon. Was it all a dream with in a dream? Did the crow really fly out of the lodge? Was there really a tragic fire? Then the glance turned to the fire. The fire was gone as if it never existed the wood never burned the stones piled but never heated. What happened? The crowd started slow moving toward the lodge. I wasnt in front there were people in front of me as well as behind me. The lodge loomed close with ever step the black spun cloth move slightly in a breeze. A few crow sat on the roof. But before we could reach the doorway. She, me, came out; her face was pale but sickness had left her face. Her hair long and dark had fallen down her shoulders. She looked at us all as if she was trying to figure out what had happen. She didnt say anything. Then there was a call of one of the crow upon the roof just before it took flight. We all watched it fly into the sky. Its great black shadow cover the face of the full moon then disappeared.
This is when I woke up. The time was 9:30 in the morning I had slept eleven hours and was well rested. Starring at the drop ceiling of my own room I tried to figure it out. What was I shown? What did it all mean? Quickly I wrote it in to my dream dictionary for I wouldnt forget it. Did it mean something, I wondered? Or was it just my over active imagination play game with me? No, it has to mean some thing, but what? And yet even though to this day it is vivid in my mind I have not learn of what the message bother crow was trying to tell me. But I know that one of these days I will.
When a crow calls, he is telling a message to the drummers, and the drummers are beating the warning for us all to hear.
Thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, thump.

You can't always sit in your corner of the forest and wait for people to come to you... you have to go to them sometimes.
